Who cares if dilipcr is from BITS or some Swami PavBhaji university in Arnakulam. All are same in America. For your Greencard application you just need a minimum degree that can be acceptable by USCIS. For jobs and career, your Indian degree is nothing. It only boosts your ego and you can tell your Indian friends. If you tell your American friends they will just laugh at your ignorance. If you are so attached to your BITS then how about you go and help them be #1? It is your caliber and performance that matters in jobs. IIT and IIMs can be successful in USA or misfits same as people from third rate colleges in India. I have seen people from APTech and NIIT do better than graduates of US of top Indian colleges. So stop having a false pride. This false pride is only good for getting you married via an arranged marriage to an Indian girl in India. Nothing more than that.

I have send all paper on 12th of oct they received on 15th.
By when can i expect a letter that they have received it.
how do i know they have received it other than fedex confirmation.

There are no excuses. You are closing the doors behind and trying to forget the path you came through.
Protectionalism comes from the mere thinking that, some deserve a better and easier life just because they happen to be "born" at some place, or because they happen to be there "earlier", and don't want to be threatened by smarter / hardworking humanity.
Great thoughts. At least there are some on this alias who can think different from all others who are trying to stand on high pseudo moral values, when the basis of their standing up is nothing else but only and only their own self interest.
Have you ever thought about the millions and millions of Bangladeshi immigrants who jump Indian border's to find a job and to feed their families. How many of us apply the same moral values to immigration policies in India. Or does it ever bother you to support India student's suffering in Australia.
So only if you have clarity of thoughts on all these issues, and you support immigration no matter what country you talk about, you have a right to complain about the US immigration policies. Otherwise, tomorrow when domestic market surge in India, you will be the first one, complaining about a low cost engineer coming out from a Nepal or Bangaladesh university.

By taking on this subject we are providing good coverage for SRK and talking negative about US Immigraiton we are making them corrupt we should not put pressure on them ( US Immigration ) let them do there duty.

I usually just browse through these forums and I really appreciate the effort put in by the organizers. But this thread gave me an urge to respond and perhaps talk.
First of all, SRK is just a normal human, not a God. The TSA has even questioned many American celebrities. SRK is just a guy with Khan as last name. TSA is not going to take chances and will make sure they do what is needed to protect America. And SRK probably acted like a monkey again and annoyed the TSA guys so they held him up for 2 hours. OK, just kidding. But thing is, Indian government if anything should take a lesson from it. In india if you are SRK or Sanjay Dutt, there are no lines for you..any where. Indians should get angry at that, not this that just happened in the USA. And for God's sake, why would you even want to sympathesize with a character like SRK who has destroyed the indian movie industry?
Now don't tell me I am a traitor. I love India, I love America. I live in America because I like living in America and I have gotten used to the comfort and lifestyle. This doesnt mean that I hate India.
And to the guy who thinks that americasn think Indians are slumdogs or thrid class citizens...please go to india and free up the line for the rest of us. I agree with what you said except I would add those past mid 2004 instead of 2005 as hopeless situation in eb2 india. I dont think the Eb2 India will ever move past March/april 2004. Infact with every visa bulletin the EB2 india dates will start moving backward to 2003-2002. One silver lining is Eb3 to eb2 porting will be completely useless. It now takes atleast 6 monts for perm to clear( this is the best case), EB2 is almost impossible to get, if you take a risk and apply in eb2 almost gaurenteed for audit. atleast now we have a clear picture of how many decades(no pun intended) it takes for eb2 and eb3 India to get there green card. My guess is obama\durbin\grassley are figuring out how to kick us out. I remember one of the tactics that the conservatives proposed for kicking out the illegals was to make it difficult for illegals to get employed by imposing heavy fines on employers for hiring illegals. Obama durbin and the democrats are using the same tactics with just a minor difference, instead of illegals they (obama\durbin et al) are going after legals by issuing RFE on EVL even for 485 etc etc etc. Basically they want to haress and make us so dejected that we will leave US and they can keep our social security taxes for wealth redistribution. most of us (atleast the people who graduated out of US universities) gave the prime part of our lives for this country, now we are being treated like we are not even humans. How can anybody work in US for 10+ years and still not have a green card and face the possibility of being kicked out.
Ok, the guy that sets the dates says that he sees no possibility of dates moving forward for EB India and ppl are still thinking there is hope? I am an optimist and try to see the brighter side - and that side here is that we know there is no hope for those past 2005 in the next two years. That to me is sufficient to make decisions and move on. Be it changing to a different job or going back to the home country - most probably the former for me.

Your plan to stop outsourcing is really going well. Isnt it ? Well, this is exactly why people like you and John Miano get replaced by hard-working foriegn workers. Because the foriegn workers have a mission to accomplish when they accept a job, unlike you, who intends to do one thing (stop outsourcing) and ends up achieving the opposite (cause outsourcing).
Keep up the good work and blame the foriegn workers for all your problems in life, including global warming.

If you are from India, you would hate it. There are truckloads of programmers in that country. But if you are the only graduate with programming skills from a country like timbaktoo (?), you would love it. You also got a shot at american dream.
This EB quota system reminds me of Caste reservation system in India. To some that is fair, to others, it is unfair. Depends on which side of the fence you are.
Fairness or not is not the issue. Question is can it be challenged in a court? Diversity at work place is encouraged through outreach for example. But you cannot discriminate in employment based on national origin. Employers can't put quotas for employee diversity. Employment based immigration I don't think can count because part of the requirement for holding the job is that the employee have a valid work authorization.
For example, someones H1b 6yrs runs out the without possibility of extension, you cannot cry discrimination from the employer for not hiring you beyond 6yrs. As I said, the employers don't force you to not change job or job title. People don't because they will lose their GC or spot in the GC queue.

Well said. These kind of feelings are general for human beings. But thinking and worrying about any problem is not going to fetch you anything. If anyone has problem, then they have to start thinking about a solution. This is help them to overcome the the real problem. Thinking and worrying about it will make the problem wrost.
Every human being is having two virtual circles in his entire life. The inner circle is circle of influence on which you have full control and outer one is circle of concern on which you dont have any control. You cannot change the weather(outer circle). Worrying about how cold or hot is not going to help you, but you can wear adequate clothing(inner circle with your control) to over come it.
So think what you can do with what you have in your control. This will bring peace and happiness in your life and eventually will enable you to overcome big issues in simple way.

Also, i saw in CNN, for some (who are mexican's also), they served in US military (they are not here legallY) and got the Green Card becoz they shared the nations passion in Iraq.
Think some thing like that here too rather than challenge the state and constitution
If you talk with Caste like in India, may be somewhere down the line, you might ask a state for indians (which is like kashmir for muslims).

So next time of election, take vacation and go home, do campaigning, spend money and vote out the govt. you dislike, if you are real serious.

The person who opened this thread is not clear about the difference of 'Indian Citizen' and 'Indian Origin' (or Ethinic Indian). Any kind of discrimination faced by these people in their respective countries should be addressed in a non-violent manner and the current world order has its own mechanism to check such acts by majorities/minorities (atleast you get the relevant attention/care if you are not on the wrong side). Terrorism is not the solution to any discrimation ..period! and carrying out terror attacks on the supporting country (Rajiv Gandhi's killing) would only worsen the scenario.
India should work with Srilankan govt to establish democracy, peace and equality in Tamil majority areas and make sure that organizations like LTTE doesn't get the upper hand once again in those areas.
